Woodfired Coneflowers & Butterfly Pinched Teacup 10oz
Coneflowers bloom joyously across the surface of this woodfired teacup, hosting a single monarch butterfly feeding on it’s nectar. The piece was made entirely in the hand, without the wheel, as a means of physical therapy for Jessica as she was trying to regain her sense of touch and retrain her fingers. Each piece was made in intervals of 10 seconds, the maximum amount of time that she could work on pottery in the beginning. I chose to draw these flowers because, to me, they symbolize unrestrained joy and the freedoms of summertime.
The interior is beautiful, crystally blue, reminding us of ice and snow.
